Sailing

May 7, 2010

Everytime I sail, it’s like eating that sex mentos candy – SO GOOD! The best part of my Ngee Ann life is sailing. I used to sail every Sunday when I was younger but gradually, those sailing sessions came to a halt as I had alot of activities (in secondary school) and my school did not offer sailing as a CCA. So when I entered Ngee Ann I decided to join sailing and relieve my passion for that sport.

The reason I love sailing so much is because it is the only sport that I’m good at. Like seriously, I think sailing is the only sport I’ll be good at in my entire life. I’m really bad at sports involving balls, and this equals to almost all sports, from basketball to volleyball. That’s why I enjoy sailing so much. It makes me feel good about myself. Who doesn’t enjoy doing something that person’s good at?

I’m really glad that Ngee Ann has sailing as a CCA because schools like Temesak Poly and Nanyang Poly does not offer it. Sailing’s still a rather unknown sport in Singapore, but after the Youth Olympic Games 2010, I think sailing will generate quite a buzz in the sporting world cos I’m sure Singapore sailors would be able to bring back at least a silver medal.

I used to sail when I was your age but somehow, things became real fast in my life and next thing you know, my boat sailed on without me. Like you, I suck at all other sports and sailing was the only thing where I could just chill and feel the wind in my face and the water slicing beneath me – pure ecstasy. Last time I did it was last year in Bali but I was so rusty I couldn’t even pull off a decent tack. I should get out on the water again …
